Seda Röder
Lauded for her “musical intelligence” (Gerhard Oppitz) and “musical maturity“ (Dennis Russell Davies), the Turkish pianist Seda Röder seeks to connect the worlds of musical performance and academic scholarship. A Visiting Fellow at Harvard University and a piano instructor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Mrs. Röder regularly gives recitals and lecture concerts that focus on contemporary music.
Having a wide repertoire of solo and chamber music that ranges from Couperin to Stockhausen and beyond, Mrs. Röder has performed frequently in Turkey, Austria, Germany, and the USA. On her debut album the young pianist brings together music of three centuries by composers who were active in Vienna: Mozart – Brahms – Berg. Seda Röder has recently started “Blackbox,” a podcast series in which she shares her experiences and thoughts about playing and listening to New Music.
Mrs. Röder is the recipient of numerous scholarships and prizes, amongst them a prestigious fellowship of the Richard-Wagner-Association in Munich as well as a yearlong scholarship of the Austrian Department of Education. She has studied and worked with Gerhard Oppitz, Andras Schiff, Karlheinz Kämmerling, Rolf Plagge, and Jacob Lateiner and earned degrees from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and the Musikhochschule in Munich.
